faq

If you have any question regarding Azoa or Lídem's voicebank usage, please read carefully. Other questions may also be answered here. Please read the Terms of Use before contacting AltEOS.

basic usage

Q: How should I write their names?
A: You can write the names as AZOA / あぞあ for Azoa and LÍDEM / ィデン for Lídem. The caps lock refers exclusively to the voicebank product (as well as the Japanese localizations) when making covers or original songs.
The Japanese localization is correct on both, since their names are not meant to be in any language, it is based around the way the phonemes sound.
Q: What are the Recommended Settings?
A: The Recommended Settings are meant to be the best usage settings for Azoa/Lídem. Each voicebank has their own settings.
Q: There are various options in the Recommended Settings. Wich one should I use?
A: The one that best fits your needs.
Q: What are the Alternative Settings?
A: The Alternative Settings are meant to be used when the Recommended Settings do not work.
Q: Can I use the Alternative Settings if I don't want to use/download the Recommended Settings?
A: Please, don't. Using the Alternative Settings is an option only when the Recommended Settings do not work. The Recommended Settings, in most cases, make the voicebanks sound different, and in some instances can completely break a voicebank's sound.
Q: What if the tools in the Recommended Settings don't make a sound?
A: As it has been said, if the Recommended Settings don't work, try with the Alternative Settings.
Q: There are various Alternative Settings. Wich ones do I use?
A: As some of the tools provided may not make sound in specific phonemes, for no apparent reason, please try to find the ones that work best for you.
Q: Can I use Worldline-R?
A: No. Wordline-R (or Worldline) will make the voicebanks sound bad.
Q: I see there are FLAGS. Can I change/not use them?
A: No. The FLAGS are made to get the best of each voicebank's usage while keeping the voice how it was intended to be.
Q: Can I plug&play an UST file? (Note: Plug&Play is opening a file and rendering the result without any required modification)
A: It's better if you don't. Try to fit the UST to Azoa/Lídem's logical voice range. You can know each voicebank's logical range by clicking on the voicebank icon in the UTAU window.
Q: I tried to use the Extra sound folder inside the UTAU editor. It sounds weird. How do I fix this?
A: You don't "fix this". The Extra Sounds are meant to be used outside in an external DAW (such as Audacity, FL Studio...) in the mixing process. Though, usually, you won't have the need to use them.
Q: This phoneme doesn't sound/an incorrect sound plays when I input this note. What do I do?
A: If you have already checked that the Recommended or Alternative settings are not the issue, please check the wav files and frq files, as well as the rest of the FAQ (it could be a specific voicebank issue). If there is no answer in the FAQ to your issue anywhere, or the solutions provided do not work, please contact AltEOS.
Q: The specifications are still confusing in the Readme and the FAQ.
A: Please read the Wiki
Q: While Azoa has a dedicated UTAU and OpenUTAU release, Lídem only has one download. Wich program is it for?
A: Lídem's voicebank works for both programs with no issue.

CV voicebank

For OpenUTAU specific usage, please skip to the next section. Please note these may not be accurate since 16/12/2025.Some phonemes do not work.
Please check that the aliases are correct in both the configuration (oto) or UST.
My UST does not sound when I use these voicebanks!
Please check that the format of the UST is CV and not VCV / CVVC. Also check the language of the voicebank.
Why are there two versions of the vowel phonemes? (A, E, I, O, U, N)
You will find that the vowels have two different configurations. The "long"/"duplicated" aliases (aa, ee, ii, oo, uu, nn) are meant to be used for easy crossfade. The normal aliasing (a, e, i, o, u, n) are meant to work as your default vowels in any other CV voicebank.
How do I adapt an UST to the voicebanks?
Select all notes, move them to the appropiate Logical Range. Check Note Properties, then Clear and Reset the Overlap and Preutterance. Make sure that there is no text in the Flags box, and there is no STP or BRE settings. Then hit ACPT or Reset, then P2P3 in the UTAU tool box.
I rendered the UST file yet there is no sound/Rendering fails and there is no sound.
Replace ALL the R notes with question marks (?). These "?" notes will do the job as if they were R notes, since there's no phonemes with that alias.

OpenUTAU usage

This section is specific to the OpenUTAU software.Wich OpenUTAU ports should I use?
There might be unofficial ports. Please stick to the official provided ports and downloads unless stated otherwise around this website.
Can I use the default OpenUTAU resampler? (Worldline-R / worldline)
As it was stated above in the basic usage, no, since it will not work as intended with these voicebanks. A detailed explanation is already provided there.
OpenUTAU does not recognize the voicebank.
If re-installing the voicebank does not work (drag & drop into the OpenUTAU window), and making sure that there are no issues with the Phonemizer, UST or resamplers, please contact OpenUTAU support.
Wich phonemizer do I use?
Usually the voicebank puts the correct phonemizer when used. If not, please try to use one that fits the voicebank type. The Default phonemizer works well.
How do I use flags in OpenUTAU?
You will have to make your way around it in the OpenUTAU parameters or use a Template + correct resamplers.
The voicebank's consonants fade too much and it almost sounds like there is no consonant / Short vowels make a weird sound.
This is supposed to be fixed as of this date. If it still doesn't work, you will have to fix it manually.
Is there any way to have all that settings already applied?
Yes, there's some official templates being distributed. The resamplers should already be set up, however you will need to have them installed into OpenUTAU to use them.
The settings in the template clash with the Readme.
Due to certain problems, the Readme files may not have been updated yet. Please use the Wikis.
Lídem's voicebank has three pitches and three Colors. What are they for?
The highest pitch of Lídem has a shouty tone, while the lowest pitch is softer. The voice Colors can be used to force one of the three pitches for the whole song.
It is planned that Azoa's updated voicebank has, as well, three pitches and Colors.
